Students to receive e-books by end of month

KEMAMAN; Tues: More than 23,000 primary five students from 100 primary schools in Terengganu will receive laptops to replace textbooks at the latest by end of the month.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said state executive councillors and assemblymen would start the distibution this week in their respective constituencies.

"We will do this as soon as possible, starting with 772 primary five students in 10 schools in the Kijal constituency," he told reporters after attending a ceremony to present e-books and aid for school uniforms at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ibok, Kijal, here today.

Ahmad said to ensure effective use of the e-books and to prevent misuse, the state government would work with Intel to develop a system to monitor their learning.

"When a teacher is teaching, they will have a device to control and monitor their students'' computers. This means during a mathematics lesson, even if the student is not interested they cannot open up to another subject," he said. - BERNAMA
